Ivica Zubac
Ivica Zubac posts 20-point double-double vs. Jazz
Sun, Nov 17, 2024, 5:29 PM
Ivica Zubac shot 11-of-17 from the field and 0-of-2 from the foul line in Sunday's win over the Jazz, tallying 22 points, 11 rebounds, two assists, and two blocked shots in 32 minutes.
Analysis: Zubac has scored 20 points or more in six games this season, a career-high for him. Paul George's departure and Kawhi Leonard's knee injury have opened up additional opportunities for Big Zu, and he's made the most of them. Zubac struggled to begin Week 4, decreasing his season-long value, but Sunday's effort got him back on track. The Clippers open a four-game Week 5 with the Warriors on Monday.
Mo Bamba
Mo Bamba records 9/8/1/1 line in Clippers debut
Sun, Nov 17, 2024, 5:28 PM
Mo Bamba played 15 minutes in Sunday's win over Utah, scoring nine points (4-of-8 FGs, 1-of-1 FTs) with eight rebounds, one assist, and one steal.
Analysis: Bamba made his first appearance of the season on Sunday and was very good in his 15 minutes on the court. The 7-footer finished one point and two rebounds shy of a double-double, with his production being better than what Kai Jones provided when he was allowed to compete for the backup center job. With Ivica Zubac playing excellent basketball, Bamba's fantasy ceiling is low. However, Sunday's performance shows that he's worth tracking.
Norman Powell
Norman Powell hits four 3-pointers, scores 19 PTS
Sun, Nov 17, 2024, 5:28 PM
Norman Powell shot 6-of-17 from the field and 3-of-4 from the foul line in Sunday's win over Utah, scoring 19 points with two rebounds, three assists, one steal, and four 3-pointers in 35 minutes.
Analysis: Powell appeared poised for a big night when he scored 10 points in the first quarter. Unfortunately, for those who have him rostered, that isn't how things worked out. Powell's production slowed down from that point onward, and he finished with 19 points on the night. He continues to surprise regarding fantasy value, ranking within the top 50 in 9-cat formats. Powell is not a “sell high” candidate due to the uncertainty surrounding Kawhi Leonard.
James Harden
James Harden records 20/6/11/2/2 line vs. Jazz
Sun, Nov 17, 2024, 5:22 PM
Law Murray
James Harden amassed 20 points (7-of-14 FGs, 4-of-5 FTs), six rebounds, 11 assists, two steals, two blocks, and two 3-pointers in 33 minutes in Sunday's win over Utah.
Analysis: What a night for Harden. For the eighth time in his career, he finished a game with at least 10 assists and no turnovers. Thus far, turnovers have been the most significant issue for The Beard this season, with a two-round gap between his 8-cat (1st-round) and 9-cat (3rd) values. Also, he made some history, moving into second place on the all-time 3-pointers list. Harden entered Sunday tied with Ray Allen at 2,973 3-pointers. The Clippers are among the few teams playing four games in Week 5, beginning with the Warriors on Monday.
Mo Bamba
Mo Bamba (knee) absent from injury report Sunday
Sat, Nov 16, 2024, 1:57 PM
Justin Russo
Mo Bamba (left knee injury recovery) is not on the injury report for Sunday's game against Utah.
Analysis: Sent to San Diego to continue his rehab process with the Clippers' G League affiliate early in the week, Bamba played on Thursday. He's no longer on the injury report, and Bamba's return will give Tyronn Lue another big to work with. Bamba's return will not impact fantasy basketball, as starter Ivica Zubac will continue to play most of the available minutes at center.
Kevin Porter
Kevin Porter Jr. turns in 15/3/3 line off bench
Fri, Nov 15, 2024, 6:02 PM
Kevin Porter Jr. provided a boost off the bench with 15 points (5-of-10 FGs, 2-of-6 FTs), three rebounds, three assists and three triples against the Rockets on Friday.
Analysis: After committing three fouls in six minutes and missing a 3-pointer in his return to Houston on Wednesday, KPJ played better in this game against his former team. He's been largely irrelevant in fantasy basketball this season, but he has had a few games that remind us that he is a talented player. If he is ever able to carve out a larger, more consistent role, he may be able to provide some standard league value. However, until that happens, it's best to leave him on the waiver wire.
Kris Dunn
Kris Dunn posts 13/2/2/1/1 line in 19 minutes
Fri, Nov 15, 2024, 5:51 PM
Kris Dunn got another start on Friday and contributed 13 points (6-of-13 FGs), two rebounds, two assists, one steal, one block and one triple in 19 minutes against the Rockets.
Analysis: Dunn got his second straight start for the Clippers, but his minutes were far more limited in this one. He still provided some buckets and defensive numbers, but after two straight games with eight assists, this outing was disappointing. However, managers shouldn't be too concerned yet. Kevin Porter Jr. played well off the bench and played more than he typically does. Also, this game was a blowout, which impacted Tyronn Lue's rotations. As long as Dunn is starting, he should be seen as a decent streaming option with well-rounded upside.
James Harden
James Harden scores 21 points in loss to Rockets
Fri, Nov 15, 2024, 5:35 PM
James Harden led the Clippers with 21 points (7-of-14 FGs), six rebounds, two assists, one block, three 3-pointers and five turnovers in a 125-104 loss to Houston on Friday.
Analysis: Harden didn't play all that well in what ended up being an ugly loss for the Clippers. However, he did come close to making some history. He needed four 3-pointers to pass Ray Allen on the all-time 3-point leaderboard. Harden hit three, so now they're tied at 2,973. He won't pass Stephen Curry, who was at 3,779 prior to Friday's game against the Grizzlies. Harden has been a strong but inefficient option in 9-cat leagues so far this season, which is what managers should expect from him until Kawhi Leonard returns, whenever that may be. Harden did hit at least half of his shot attempts in this game for just the second time this season, but the turnovers still plagued him.
Terance Mann
Terance Mann records 14/7/3/1/2 line in 23 minutes
Wed, Nov 13, 2024, 5:13 PM
Terance Mann played 23 minutes in Wednesday's loss to the Rockets, finishing with 14 points (5-of-9 FGs, 2-of-2 FTs), seven rebounds, three assists, one steal, two blocks, and two 3-pointers.
Analysis: Off to a slow start this season, Mann was moved to the bench on Wednesday in favor of Kris Dunn. Give Mann credit because he made the most of his minutes. He established season-highs in points, rebounds, steals, blocks, and 3-pointers. Trusting Mann in fantasy basketball is challenging, but the demotion could be a catalyst. There's no need to add him, but keep Mann on your radar, especially in deep leagues.
Kris Dunn
Kris Dunn plays 31 MIN, posts 11/4/8/2 stat line
Wed, Nov 13, 2024, 5:12 PM
Kris Dunn amassed 11 points (5-of-10 FGs), four rebounds, eight assists, two steals, and one 3-pointer in 31 minutes in Wednesday's loss to Houston.
Analysis: Dunn made his first start of the season on Wednesday, with the assists and steals production being incredibly encouraging. He isn't going to be a high-level scorer, and the Clippers don't need him to be. But if Dunn can continue to play 30 minutes per game, he can provide reputable value, especially in deep leagues. He's currently rostered in 3% of Yahoo leagues, so finding Dunn on the waiver wire won't be challenging.
James Harden
James Harden goes quiet after hot 1st quarter
Wed, Nov 13, 2024, 5:12 PM
James Harden finished Wednesday's loss to the Rockets with 19 points (6-of-15 FGs, 4-of-5 FTs), six rebounds, seven assists, three steals, and three 3-pointers in 31 minutes.
Analysis: Harden scored 12 points in the first quarter of Wednesday's game, and then the Rockets clamped down defensively. And it's worth noting that the Clippers reserves stepped up to get the team back into the game, not the starters. Harden's had better nights, but fantasy managers did get some rebounds, assists, and steals to work with. He'll look to rebound when the teams meet again on Friday.
Kris Dunn
Kris Dunn to replace Mann in starting lineup
Wed, Nov 13, 2024, 1:23 PM
Law Murray
Kris Dunn will start Wednesday's game against the Rockets, replacing Terance Mann.
Analysis: Mann isn't dealing with any health-related issues ahead of Wednesday's game. The Clippers need a spark, and Dunn's defensive ability could be what provides it. Fantasy managers should take a patient approach and see what Dunn's minutes look like before making a move. The same can be said for Mann, who hasn't provided much value as a starter. If you still have him rostered, it won't hurt much to hold off on dropping Mann until after Wednesday's game.
Mo Bamba
Mo Bamba (knee) assigned to G League affiliate
Tue, Nov 12, 2024, 12:14 PM
Law Murray
Mo Bamba (left knee injury recovery) has been assigned to the Clippers' G League affiliate.
Analysis: Bamba has not appeared in a game this season, but that may change soon. While he will not play in Wednesday's game against the Rockets, the 7-footer has been assigned to the Clippers' G League affiliate to continue rehab. Once healthy enough to play, Bamba may bump Kai Jones from the rotation, serving as Ivica Zubac's primary backup.
Ivica Zubac
Ivica Zubac posts 22/14 double-double with 3 swats
Mon, Nov 11, 2024, 6:31 PM
Ivica Zubac recorded a double-double on Monday with 22 points (9-of-12 FGs), 14 rebounds and three blocks against the Thunder.
Analysis: The Thunder rolled out a small starting lineup with Chet Holmgren sidelined, which gave Zubac the chance to dominate. He had another big performance in what has been an incredible season for him. He has at least 10 rebounds in every game except for two, and he had nine rebounds in each of those. Tyronn Lue is finally unleashing Zubac, and he has been a top-75 player in 9-cat leagues to this point because of that. As long as he continues to play around 35 minutes per game like he has, Zubac will be an excellent option for the rest of the season.
Derrick Jones
Derrick Jones Jr. scores 20 points with 4 triples
Mon, Nov 11, 2024, 6:26 PM
Derrick Jones Jr. lit up the Thunder with 20 points (8-of-13 FGs), five rebounds, three assists, one steal and four 3-pointers on Monday.
Analysis: The Clippers' offseason acquisition was never a great fantasy option, and that has held true in his first season in LA. However, he does rank in the top-150 in 9-cat leagues this season, which is a huge step in the right direction for him. He set a new season-high for both points and assists while tying his season-high for triples in this game. However, managers shouldn't see this as a sign of things to come. He simply isn't a great option in standard leagues.
Norman Powell
Norman Powell drops 31 points with five triples
Mon, Nov 11, 2024, 5:14 PM
Norman Powell led the Clippers with 31 points (10-of-15 FGs), two rebounds, four assists, three steals and five 3-pointers in a 134-128 loss to Oklahoma City on Monday.
Analysis: Powell has been unreal this season, and he currently ranks in the top-20 in 9-cat leagues. He has scored at least 20 points in every game since the season opener, where he scored just 17. He has shot 52.7% from the floor, despite never shooting 50% over the course of a season. The continued absence of Kawhi Leonard hasn't been an issue for the Clippers simply because of Powell's dominance. They head to Houston for games on Wednesday and Friday, where Powell will look to keep this 20-point streak alive.
Kevin Porter
Kevin Porter Jr. contributes 15/6/5/1 line vs. TOR
Sat, Nov 9, 2024, 7:17 PM
Kevin Porter Jr. played 22 minutes in Saturday's win over the Raptors, amassing 15 points (5-of-9 FGs, 3-of-6 FTs), six rebounds, five assists, one steal, and two 3-pointers.
Analysis: Porter has not been much of an asset to fantasy managers, ranking outside the top 300 in 9-cat per-game value. But he can have nights like Saturday; the issue is the inconsistency. Porter has hit double figures in four games, with their 15 points scored against the Raptors being a season-high. There's no need to consider rostering Porter, but he may have added value if the Clippers lost James Harden to an injury.
Norman Powell
Norman Powell hits three triples, scores 24 points
Sat, Nov 9, 2024, 7:17 PM
Norman Powell finished Saturday's win over the Raptors with 24 points (7-of-14 FGs, 7-of-9 FTs), three rebounds, three assists, one steal, one block, and three 3-pointers in 35 minutes.
Analysis: Powell's streak of 20-point games lives on, with the Clippers guard having met or exceeded that number in nine straight. He's done such a good job scoring-wise that the limited production in other categories hasn't meant much. Powell's providing top 25 per-game value in 9-cat formats and top 30 in 8-cat formats. The Clippers now hit the road for the first three games of their four-game Week 4 slate, beginning with the Thunder on Monday.
James Harden
James Harden posts 24/12/7/1 stat line vs. Toronto
Sat, Nov 9, 2024, 7:16 PM
James Harden shot 5-of-17 from the field and 12-of-13 from the foul line in Saturday's win over the Raptors, scoring 24 points with 12 rebounds, seven assists, one steal, and two 3-pointers in 34 minutes.
Analysis: While Harden's role has resulted in excellent counting stats, his efficiency has taken a significant hit. A 33.3% shooter or worse in three straight and six of his last eight games, The Beard is shooting 36.1% from the field for the season. The poor shooting and high turnover average are why Harden is ranked just outside the top 25 in 9-cat formats, but he's a top-10 player in 8-cat.
Ivica Zubac
Ivica Zubac drops 14/12/1/2/3 line vs. Raptors
Sat, Nov 9, 2024, 7:16 PM
Ivica Zubac played 38 minutes in Saturday's win over Toronto, scoring 14 points (7-of-12 FGs) with 12 rebounds, one assist, two steals, and three blocks.
Analysis: After playing 37 minutes in Friday's win over the Kings in Sacramento, Zubac played 38 more on Saturday. The production remained consistent, with the Clippers center recording his sixth double-double of the season. Zubac heads into Week 4 as a top 75 player in 9-cat formats, exceeding his Yahoo ADP (84). And the longer Kawhi Leonard (knee) sits, the better Zubac's chances are of sustaining his current fantasy value, if not improving it.
